Every time we visit Davis Square in Somerville MA I find myself both fascinated and intrigued by a sculpture hanging out in an old red phone booth. Who made it? Where did it come from?
Well I finally took the time to get to the bottom of this mystery.
The little guys name is Davis J325 and according to the Somerville Arts Council he was born out of the Phone Art Box Project. The artist known as Skunk created Davis J325 from “forty bicycle parts, two ride share station connecting pins, tall bike disco-ball cradle (formerly and iMac part), three flanges, twenty eight square punch blanks, fourteen flooring nails, twenty-one washers, two castle nuts, two cover plates, two CO2 cartridge tops, copper, bronze”.
Nice to meet you Davis J325.
If you’ve never seen Davis J325 please pay him a visit. He hangs out at 55 Davis Square, Somerville MA.
